Mama Carmen's Story
Our business is inspired by the life of a Guatemalan woman named Mama Carmen.
After her son was rescued from narco-terrorists more than twenty years ago, she promised God to never turn her back on abandoned children.
She has been faithful to that promise.
With very few resources, she has provided food, shelter, clothing and much more for over 300 children. At any given time, Mama Carmen may have between 80 and 100 children in her care. Most have disabilities or serious medical issues.
God has been faithful to provide for the needs of Mama Carmen and her children. Six years ago, Mama Carmen was anonymously given a coffee farm.
The farm is ideally located at an altitude of 6,000 feet and is accompanied by a clean fresh water river and a large beneficio that allows for on-site coffee processing. All that Mama Carmen lacked was the expertise to run the farm.
Inspired by her story, we sent one of our coffee experts to assist with Mama Carmen's farm and to train one of her sons to run the farm and the coffee business there.
We have created the Mama Carmen’s brand and Mama Carmen’s Espresso Café to aid with coffee development on her farm and elsewhere. We purchase the coffee at a fair price, roast it and sell it with a commitment to use the proceeds to assist orphans worldwide: ensuring the legacy of Mama Carmen will live on.
